RSPB and EDDC trialling new idea in Bere Regis..

The signs have gone out, and people have started to count the various species of wild birds in the gardens likely to be affected by the trial area.

RSPB says

There is no denying that pet cats kill garden birds. Many people are distressed and angered by someone else’s cat killing birds in their garden. Many cat owners want to stop cats killing birds.

Well, with the help of the EDDC, the people of Bere Regis are going to see if they can solve the problem. Bert Rogers, a keen Ornithologist in the area says.

It might seem strange to some people to get the council involved, but they do have the necessary experience, and , by the way, have you seen just how much a bloody vet would charge.

But not everyone is so enthusiastic. Mrs Ida Penny from Bere says

I can see that my cat is responsible for killing some birds, he used to bring them into the kitchen, still flapping.. but they should have mentioned the downside. Arthur has been regularly missing the litter tray and has nearly got run over twice.

It seems that until the bird count is completed, it is unsure whether this scheme will be rolled out to other areas in Dorset.

Well Done Milborne and Bere Regis – No global warming for 17 Years and 8 Months

monckton april 2014 avg

As you can see from the graph… We have got it Nailed!

When I first visited the Drax in Bere and the Royal Oak in Milborne, and chatted to people about the dangers of global warming, and how we were all causing it, you all seemed a bit sceptical. Well Back in 1997 it all was looking a bit dodgy, and I know that Phil and Grace have a beach hut, and that sea levels rising would mean that their little investment might be washed away.

But.. I asked you all to do SOMETHING.. and you did. Phil started riding his bike to the farm, rather than taking the tractor. Judy put on her cardy rather than turn up the heating.

That Wind Turbine half way along Roke Road looks bloody good.. (but apparently those little cottages close by hate it)

You all came up with a pledge to do something., and I am so proud.

Ron has been keeping a track of the figures, and I thought I would give you all the good news.

The planet says thank you.

BTW.. Ron did have some bad news. (see below)

co2

He has been recording the parts per million of CO2 as well, and as you can see he has really cocked up. The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere should be matching the temperature of the globe. Its a consensus.. David Cameron says. I have asked Ron to go and check his measurements and get back to me when he has something sensible.

Fracking Hell – This is what we are letting ourselves in for.

The UK government has proposed new rules regarding rights to access land in a bid to speed up the introduction of fracking.

It proposes that shale oil and gas companies are granted access to land below 300m from the surface.

Announcing the government proposals, Energy Minister Michael Fallon said: “Britain needs more home-grown energy.

“Shale development will bring jobs and business opportunities.

“We are keen for shale and geothermal exploration to go ahead while protecting residents through the robust regulation that is in place.

Lets have a look at what has been happening in places where fracking has been going for a while.

BBC News – Full jails told to take in more prisoners – Metropolitan Police given permission to buy water cannon – Sounds like the government will be announcing something unpopular this summer

Jails..

Full jails told to take in more prisoners.  Forty prisons have been told to take in more inmates, although 34 are already full. The Ministry of Justice has ordered dozens of already full jails to take more prisoners because the jail population is increasing faster than expected, it has emerged.

Water Cannon..

Approval has been given for the Metropolitan Police to purchase three water cannon for London. A Home Office spokesman said: “We are keen to ensure that the police have the tools and powers they need to maintain order on our streets.”

Why?

The UK is the world’s six largest economy, yet 1 in 5 of the UK population live below our official poverty line, meaning that they experience life as a daily struggle. (Oxfam)

More people are falling into debt because they cannot afford basic household bills, such as energy, water and council tax, a charity says.

So as the pressure builds up for a population now deep in debt, could it be that the government are expecting things to crack?

Could it be that there is something coming up which could well result in a lot of civil disorder?

Iraq crisis: Islamists force 500,000 to flee Mosul

"Vital areas" of the city of Mosul have been seized, Iraq’s prime minister said

Haven’t we done well!
In 2003, a coalition led by the U.S. and U.K. invaded Iraq to depose Saddam, in which U.S. President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair accused him of possessing weapons of mass destruction and having ties to al-Qaeda. Saddam’s Ba’ath party was disbanded and elections were held. Following his capture on 13 December 2003, the trial of Saddam took place under the Iraqi interim government. On 5 November 2006, Saddam was convicted of charges related to the 1982 killing of 148 Iraqi Shi’ites and was sentenced to death by hanging. His execution was carried out on 30 December 2006.

120,000 innocent civilians were killed to remove this man.

Now more will die whilst the country enters into civil war.

I know that democracy is a good idea but sometimes it takes a dictator to hold things together. ‘An average of 200 people are killed every month in Iraq as a direct result of the illegal invasion ordered by Bush and Blair,’ said journalist and filmmaker John Pilger.

But wait…
Mosel is very close to the oil fields of the north.
I have a feeling that intervention could well be on the minds of the USA

BBC News – Sexual violence in war: Jolie opens summit in London

BBC News – Sexual violence in war: Jolie opens summit in London.

War is terrible. War is awful. Terrible things happen. Unimaginable things take place. The truth of it is that when young men are given a low life expectancy, and a gun, they will feel as if they can do what they want. The threat of further action being taken for the things that they do during war, will not be in their minds.
They are taught by their leaders that they are dealing with an ENEMY. Leaders like William Hague.
An ENEMY must be defeated.
Property of that ENEMY are part of the spoils of war. It can be treated without respect. It can be abused.
What better way to hurt your ENEMY than to damage his possessions?
In some cultures women are the possessions of men.
Rape is not done by people who necessarily want sex. They want to show how powerful they are.

The best way of stopping sexual violence in war is to stop war. All other attempts will fail.
It would be great to take killing out of war too.
According to William Hague – Rape… wrong! Killing… OK! This is what we will be telling our soldiers.

Diabetes – What is really happening?

“One in three adults in England ‘on cusp’ of diabetes”

People with pre-diabetes have no symptoms of ill health, but their blood sugar levels are at the very high end of the normal range – on the cusp of diabetes.

Surely, haven’t we seen a dramatic rise in the consumption of artificial sweeteners, and so it can’t be sugar that is to blame.

Take a look at what Dr Mercola says

Diet foods and drinks are promoted to help you lose weight but compelling evidence shows that artificial sweeteners like aspartame cause weight gain rather than weight loss. That’s right, aspartame―which was once hailed as a wonder chemical because it tastes like sugar without the calories―actually makes you fatter, and adversely affects your blood glucose levels and insulin sensitivity.
